Finished edit of the Yellow video...

Stuck in the editing suite

So the sun typically held off until I need to spend two solid weeks sitting inside, sifting converting and editing footage on all four films. Shot the fourth and final on Thursday - thanks for everyone involved! It was a huge success and I'm definitely having fun watching it back!
So I'll leave a sneaky preview of what went down...vid's to follow shortly!!

Yellow Crayola

Yellow. The colour of happiness, joy and laughter. The carefree lifestyle of youth. Yellow makes me think of being a child - the way hours of fun can be had with the simplest, and possibly the stupidest, of things. Yellow. The colour of the timeless Lego man.

The Yellow film will represent one of LouisLouisa's most prominent ideologies - to help make your idea into reality. For this film, we are going to combine these thoughts, feelings and overall ideas and experiment with animation. Michel Gondry's famous video for The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl was a fantastic experiment, building entire scenes from Lego, thus spurring a trend in Lego sequences. I love the Lego Star Wars series on YouTube...

Although these are all great ideas, they are extremely time-consuming and I don't think my architectural skills are quite up to scratch. Instead, I'm thinking of creating a childlike animation, so I'm taking it back old-school and whipping out the Crayolas...

I see Blue...he's glorious!

So now that Black and White is scheduled, it's all just a matter of some serious prop hoarding. My beautiful cream paper rose garland arrived yesterday ready to be twisted around the White dancer, while I managed to get hold of a matt black ivy one for the other dancer.

In the mean time, we're still searching for underwater camera housing. I really want to try shooting underwater for the experience. Not one to lie, I was definitely inspired by a shoot on the latest season of America's Next Top Model where they did a shoot in the sea. So my nan's swimming pool won't have quite the same effect, but I want to drape the tree that hangs over it in fairy lights and make it into a little grotto and then get to business catching a mermaid...or in the ever wise words of Derek Zoolander himself, "Merman."

Got a shoot date for Black and White - shooting at Aylesford Priory, Maidstone. It looks amazing! Unfortunately the Shrine area (top) is out of bounds for the moment but we'll try and work the magic as it looks pretty awesome...

Black and White

So in the mean time I've been getting busy planning Black and White. I want this film to play heavily on the contrast of the shades, but with artistic demeanor. Director Floria Sigismondi has been a huge influence, I really like Karen Elsons character in the video for the White Stripes' Blue Orchid and it's inspired me to cast some ballet dancers. Huge success when I found identical twins to play each role. Score! Here are the mood boards, still trying to finalize a location though...

Red

So for the launch, we're developing our portfolio to illustrate the versatility of what LouisLouisa can offer. We are currently producing a selection of short films, each based around a particular colour, inspired by the connotations it shares. Red being first into the editing suite, is proving an interesting one. The colour red perhaps evokes some of the rawest human emotions - from love, passion, seduction - to danger, anger and evil. There were many starting points for this. We decided to capture the thoughts of others and what the colour red meant to them, so we set up a booth at Richmond School of Dramatic Art and got the students to participate.
